A path to Light - Gratitude and lifting the veil of illusion
Posted by Tim under Gratitude , maya , yogaI guess you could say I am expanding my knowledge base in an attempt to remove the veil of delusion from myself…I continue as there is enough that resonates and glimmers of insight that give motivation to continue…
Yoga is sorta/kinda the scientific aspect of Hinduism, it is through the science of observation from the Vedas that the union (Yoga) is attained, from the rishis came the tradition and observations of thousands of years, from this information there were then the sages (Narada, Patanjali et. Al) that had insight into these observations and tested their validity through personal experience – Buddha was one such person, it is from his insight that Buddhism evolved… as for that the way to awaken is through mindfulness according to the Buddhist and conscious living according to the Hindu, as with most things the words are only an attempt to communicate based on the experience of the people to which they speak, they in fact mean the same, the Kabbalah and Christianity have the same idea wrapped up in ritual and other words.
Hmmm, how to awaken the sleeper within (from Dune) or remove the veil of illusion…I just finished another book called “Why the Buddha smiles” and one of the exercises mentioned that resonated with me had to do with eating (one of my favourite things to do) it went something like this (of course my habit is to exaggerate and expand upon the details) …the next time you sit to a meal think not only of the time you spent in cooking, think of the animal/plant that gave its life, the animal/plant had to absorb the nutrients provided by the earth, the farmer had to harvest, it had to be sold in market, it had to be transported to the market then to the store, the shelves of the store had to be stocked, the cashier had to tally the total, the car you drove had to be manufactured as did the truck that delivered the produce to the market and the store, the metal had to be mined and it too had to be transformed…if the food is ordered then we would have to consider the tree that gave its life for the phone book or flyer, the phone company for the phone, the wires or cell units, the person who picks up the phone to take the order, the person who put together the ingredients that have the same path as previously mentioned, the mechanism of delivery …it could continue, we do not live alone nor are we independent of others, there are many that take care of us and that we rely upon whether we are conscious of it or not…it is a combination of all those energies that keep us alive and provide…a path to light.
